SOLUTION - D14S Front Drift Wheel Binding Issue

Hey guys,

We’ve identified a small issue affecting some WPL D14S  units from the mass-produced batch.

The chrome paint coating on the drift wheels is slightly too thick, causing the inner surface of the wheel to brush against the steering knuckle bearing area.
This lead to resistance and preventing the front wheel from spinning smoothly. (* the rear is unaffected)

But don’t worry — there are two simple solutions!

🛠️ Solution 1 – Remove Excess Material:
Lightly remove the chrome coating (about 1.5mm thick) from the inner side of the wheel hub that contacts the bearing.
Once smoothed, the wheel spins freely again and steering feels normal.

⚙️ Solution 2 – Add Shims:
Alternatively, insert two thin shims inside the wheel between the bearing and the wheel hub.
This creates extra clearance, spacing the wheel slightly away from the bearing — eliminating the rubbing completely.

Summary:

  • Issue: Chrome coating on drift wheel too thick

  • Effect: Slight steering resistance

  • Fix Option 1: Lightly remove chrome/material from inner wheel hub

  • Fix Option 2: Add 2 shims between bearing and wheel hub

  • Result: Smooth front rotation restored

We appreciate everyone’s feedback and support for the D14S - every detail helps us keep improving! ❤️
